The right liquid foundation is an integral piece in a well-stocked beauty bag. It works to rid your skin of slight imperfections and lays a clean base on which you can create the perfect look. Given its importance, the tool used to apply it should be equally important. So, ladies: beauty blender vs brush … what’s better for applying foundation?

How to apply: Beautyblender vs Brush
For both tools, foundation is applied using the same method. Pump a couple of pea-sized drops of foundation onto the back of your palm. The application is slightly different:
Foundation brush: dab product onto your face and blend. It’s that simple.
Beautyblender: wet the sponge, then dab product onto your face and blend.
Winner: Beautyblender. Brush bristles have a tendency to leave unwanted little streaks on the face. The beauty blender was designed so that the damp surface allows makeup to go on smoother for an airbrushed finish.
How to clean: Beautyblender vs Brush
Given the daily use of these tools, they should be cleaned regularly (ideally every day, but at least once per week). The beauty blender and foundation brush can both be cleaned with a mild cleanser (we love EcoTools Makeup Brush Cleansing Shampoo – $7.99).
Foundation brush: With the correct cleanser, we find that the foundation brush cleans easily off the bristles.
Beautyblender: The sponge absorbs a lot of makeup. Over time, it’s is difficult to wash all of the built-up foundation out of and off of the sponge.
Winner: Foundation brush.
Price: Beautyblender vs Foundation Sponge
The price of these tools can have a wide disparity and depends on how high end your brush.
Foundation brush: Foundation brushes vary between $10 – $75. People swear by this Morphe Deluxe Buffer Brush for $15 and this Tom Ford Cream Foundation Brush for $72.
Beauty blender: The original beautyblender retails for $20.
Winner: Tie. The beauty blender may be cheaper but needs to replaced more often because it’s difficult to clean after a period of time.
What to Choose: Beauty blender vs Brush
Winner: Beautyblender. Although the foundation brush is easier to clean and may cost more in the long- run, the airbrush finish you can achieve using the beautyblender outweighs the negatives.
Beauty blender Dupe
The beautyblender is so popular that many companies have tried to recreate it. Although we love the original beautyblender, we also like the Real Techniques sponge set if looking for a lower price point.
